(Königlicher Hausorden von Hohenzollern Adler der Inhaber). Instituted 18 January 1851 by King Friedrich Wilhelm IV. (1861-1918 issue). Constructed of silver with multi-coloured enamels, consisting of a detailed and double-sided Hohenzollern imperial eagle clutching an orb and sceptre, overlaid across the chest with a black and white enameled shield, and with its head surrounding by a circular halo bearing an inscription of “VOM FELS ZUM MEER” (“FROM THE CLIFFS TO THE SEA”), topped by an integral loop and suspension ring, accompanied by a period original ribbon, parade-mounted to a bronze backer with a horizontal pinback and red wool reverse liner, the ribbon notably overlaying a ribbon for a China Commemorative Medal also affixed to the backer, the decoration unmarked and measuring 33.58 mm (w) x 34.95 mm (h), weighing 12.2 grams, the decoration is no longer stitched to the ribbon but otherwise demonstrates no damage or wear, in extremely fine condition.
