United States. A Military Order of the Dragon to Captain Alfred Sargent

In bronze, the obverse features a large gilt dragon, the reverse is engraved CAPT. ALFRED G. SARGENT I.M.S No 266., surrounded by the raised inscription MILITARY ORDER OF THE DRAGON CHINA 1900, with an ornate suspension, the medal measures 36.1mm (w) x 46.3mm (h – including suspension), weighs 45.0 grams (including ribbon), worn on original yellow silk ribbon with decorative pin, ribbon has been cut on reverse, contact marks and notable edge bruises.

Footnote: The Military Order of the Dragon was an exclusive fraternal order founded in 1900 by members of the China Relief Expedition, a U.S Military force that participated in the Boxer Rebellion in Imperial China.
