Germany, Third Reich. A Mixed Lot of Sports Badges

(Sportabzeichen). A mixed lot of three sports badges, including:

1. A DRL Sports Badge, Bronze Grade, constructed of bronzed magnetic metal, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon overlaid by a mobile swastika, around central stylized initials “DRL”, the reverse with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked “WERNSTEIN, JENA”, measuring 38.67 mm (w) x 48.16 mm (h), weighing 17.1 grams, in extremely fine condition.

2. A DRL Sports Badge, Gold Grade, constructed of gilded bronze, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon overlaid by a mobile swastika, around central stylized initials “DRL”, the reverse with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked “WERNSTEIN, JENA”, measuring 38.55 mm (w) x 48.22 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.

3. An SA Sports Badge, Bronze Grade, Type III, constructed of bronzed magnetic metal, the obverse consisting of a circular oak leaf wreath, overlaid by a sword on top of a mobile swastika, the reverse with an integral hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked “W. REDO, SAARLAUTERN”, measuring 47.00 mm (w) x 59.22 mm (h), weighing 18.1 grams, in extremely fine condition.
