(Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes mit Etui). Reinstituted 1 September 1939. (1939-1945 issue). Constructed of iron and silver, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse bearing a central mobile swastika, the six o’clock arm bearing a reinstitution date of “1939”, the reverse six o’clock arm bearing an initial institution date of “1813”, the twelve o’clock arm topped by an integral loop connecting to its original silver suspension ring, in turn retaining a period original confectioned ribbon, as worn by the recipient, the reverse of the twelve o’clock arm stamped with a horizontally-arranged Präsidialkanzlei code of “2” indicating manufacture by C.E. Juncker, Berlin, flanked by a silver content number of “800”, with the suspension ring bearing an additional silver content number of “800”, measuring 48.22 mm (w) x 48.44 mm (h), weighing 34.4 grams (inclusive of ring), accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a wooden frame with a faux black leather exterior liner, the lid with a padded white rayon lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a depressed black velvet medal bed, closing with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release, unmarked, measuring 75 mm (w) x 145 mm (l) x 22 mm (h), with minor material fatigue evident to the exterior liner of the case, a scarce version of the knight's cross issued example in extremely fine condition.
