Germany, Kriegsmarine. A Destroyer War Badge, by Schwerin & Söhne

(Zerstörerkriegsabzeichen). Constructed of gilded and silvered tombak, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, around a central depiction of a destroyer cutting through waves, the reverse with a block hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a flat wire catch, topped by a stabilizer, maker marked “SCHWERIN, BERLIN”, measuring 45.33 mm (w) x 53.88 mm (h), weighing 28.3 grams, with minor loss of finish evident, in near extremely fine condition.
