Germany, Weimar Republic. A League of Saxon Frontline Soldiers I Class Knight’s Cross with Swords

(Bund Sächsischer Frontsoldaten Ritterkreuz I. Klasse mit Krone und Schwertern). Constructed of gilded bronze with multi-coloured enamels, consisting of a Latin Cross with crossed swords piercing the centrepiece, the obverse with white enameled arms topped by a royal crown with voids highlighted in red enamels, with a central white enameled disc bearing a gilded Saxon coat of arms, within a ring of green enamels bearing a gilt inscription of “PROVIDENTIAE MEMOR” (“REMEMBER PROVIDENCE”), the reverse with a barrel hinge and flattened vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, unmarked, measuring 36.09 mm (w) x 59.80 mm (h), weighing 19.5 grams, in extremely fine condition.
