Constructed of Gold with multi-coloured enamels, consisting of a Cross Pattée with white enameled arms trimmed in gilt, the obverse bearing a central Gold medallion overlaid by a raised crown, set within a ring of blue enamel bearing a gilt inscription of “GOTT MIT UNS” (“GOD WITH US”) and arabesques, the reverse bearing a central Gold medallion overlaid by a raised monogram of King Wilhelm I, set within a ring of blue enamel bearing a gilt institution date of “DEN 18 OCTOBER OCTOBER 1861”, the twelve o’clock arm with an integral loop and suspension ring retaining a period original shortened length of neck ribbon, the six o’clock arm maker marked with the logo of Wagner & Sohn, Berlin, measuring 51.66 mm (w) x 55.84 mm (h), weighing 20.0 grams, with minor flecking of enamels evident, a superb and high-quality example in extremely fine condition.
