Germany, HJ. A 1939 National Trade Competition Victor’s Badge, Gold Grade, by Gustav Brehmer

(Ehrenzeichen Reichssieger im Reichsberufswettkampf 1939). Constructed of gilded bronze with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of a circular laurel leaf wreath, surrounding a central white enameled disc, overlaid by a German national eagle clutching a cogwheel, circumscribed by an inscription of “REICHSSIEGER 1939”, the reverse with a raised barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked “G. BREHMER, MARKNEUKIRCHEN”, measuring 48.85 mm (w) x 46.66 mm (h), weighing 29.3 grams, the enameled HJ insignia formerly overlaying the cogwheel has been lost, in very fine condition.
