(1939 Spange zum Eisernen Kreuz 1914 II. Klasse). Instituted 1 September 1939. (1940-1945 issue). Constructed of silvered tombak, the obverse consisting of a Wehrmacht eagle perched on top of a wreathed mobile swastika, in turn set above a trapezoidal plaque bearing a raised date of “1939”, the reverse retaining two of four attachment prongs affixed to a period original ribbon, unmarked but demonstrating the characteristics of manufacture by Wilhelm Deumer, Lüdenscheid, measuring 30.47 mm (w) x 30.66 mm (h), weighing 7.0 grams, demonstrating minor loss of finish in addition to the missing prongs, in better than very fine condition.
