(Kriegsmarine Soldbuch). Constructed of a light brown card stock binding with 40 paginated interior pages filled with stamped and handwritten entries, retaining a replacement black-and-white photograph of the bearer, measuring 105 mm (w) x 145 mm (h), demonstrating material fatigue and soiling consistent with extensive wartime usage (including partial tape repairs), in very fine condition.

 

Footnote: Wilhelm “Willy” (also noted as “Willi”) Schwebig was born on 26 April 1909 in the Köln (Cologne) region. According to the Soldbuch’s service records dated 20 June 1941 through 20 September 1944, he served at Marinelazartt Lorient and Marinelazarett Bordeaux, part of the Atlantic Wall, at least partially with Naval Regiment Kühnemann (the latter a naval infantry unit which covered the Wehrmacht’s eventual retreat from France). Schwebig received the War Merit Cross II Class on 20 April 1943.
