A smooth shaped cabinet teacup in rich cobalt blue glazed porcelain, the exterior side with a portrait of Hindenburg in uniform with awards (including a Pour Le Merite and 1914 Iron Cross) clutching a pair of binoculars surrounded by a thin gilt raised border with a partial laurel wreath below, a gilt ring of the same pattern encircles the teacup just below the lip, the lip features a smooth gilt ring, and a gilt handle with soft arabesque at the top, the interior of the cup is white porcelain, and the bottom bears the raised date 1915 and the green makers mark denoting the factory of Hutschenreuther Selb, the teacup measures 112mm (w – inclusive of handle) x 92mm (h),one hairline crack with a small area of gilt wear on the lip near the handle, otherwise in near extremely fine condition.

 

The saucer, in deep blue glazed porcelain with an engraved oak leaf pattern around the exterior, the center features a white porcelain with inscription Aus Großen Zeif 1914-1915. (From Great Times) surrounded by a raised lip to host teacup, the reverse features the green makers mark, the saucer measures 67mm in diameter, residue from stickers on reverse, light wear to gilt, in near extremely fine condition.
