Germany, Wehrmacht. A Gold Grade Wound Badge, by Hymmen & Co.

(Verwundetenabzeichen in Gold). Constructed of gilded zink, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, around a central raised Stahlhelm overlaid by a mobile swastika, on top of crossed swords on a pebbled field, the reverse with a raised barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked with LDO code “L/53” for Hymmen & Co., Lüdenscheid, measuring 36.51 mm (w) x 44.30 mm (h), weighing 26.0 grams, with most of the gilt finish lost, in very fine condition.
