Germany, Wehrmacht. A General Assault Badge

(Allgemeines Sturmabzeichen). Constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, around a central Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, above a crossed bayonet and stick grenade, the reverse hollow with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, unmarked, measuring 41.77 mm (w) x 52.40 mm (h), weighing 16.4 grams, with moderate loss of finish and slight oxidation evident, in very fine condition.
