Germany, Wehrmacht. An Eastern Peoples Award, I Class in Gold with Swords

(Tapferkeits- und Verdienstauszeichnung für Ostvölker I. Klasse Gold mit Schwertern). Constructed of gilded zink, the obverse consisting of an eight-pointed radiant starburst, bearing a central rosette, set within a circular laurel leaf wreath joined together at the bottom by ribbon, with crossed swords piercing the centrepiece, the reverse with a barrel hinge and tapering vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, unmarked, measuring 49.90 mm (w) x 49.56 mm (h), weighing 24.5 grams, an unusually well-preserved example in extremely fine condition.
