Germany, Wehrmacht. A 1939 Clasp to the Iron Cross II Class, Type II, by Wilhelm Deumer

(Wiederholungsspange 1939 zum Eisernen Kreuz 2. Klasse 1914). Reinstituted 1 September 1939. (1940-1945 issue). Constructed of silvered tombak, the obverse consisting of a Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, situated above a trapezoidal plaque bearing a date of “1939” on a pebbled background, the reverse with all four attachment prongs intact and retaining a period original ribbon, unmarked but demonstrating the physical characteristics of manufacture by Wilhelm Deumer, Lüdenscheid, measuring 30.40 mm (w) x 30.69 mm (h), weighing 7.5 grams, in extremely fine condition.
