Germany, Wehrmacht. A Spanish Volunteer Medal, by Deschler & Sohn

(Erinnerungsmedaille für die spanischen Freiwilligen im Kampf gegen den Bolschewismus). Constructed of gilded zink, on loop for suspension, the obverse bearing a central raised sword overlaid by shield bearing a Heer and Falange insignia, topped by a Stahlhelm, sey above a swastika flanked by laurel leaves, the reverse bearing an inscription of “DIVISIÓN ESPAÑOLA DE VOLUNTARIOS EN RUSIA” (“DIVISION OF SPANISH VOLUNTEERS IN RUSSIA”), above laurel and oak leaf branches joined together in at the centre by an Iron Cross, the suspension loop maker marked with Präsidialkanzlei code “1” for Deschler & Sohn, Munich, measuring 32.44 mm in diameter, weighing 12.0 grams, with near-total loss of finish and minor oxidation evident, in very fine condition.
