Instituted April 21, 1896. A Knight Commander Set, comprising the neck badge in silver gilt, featuring a white enamelled Maltese cross, the obverse medallion presenting the cypher VRI on red enamel, surrounded by a blue enamel ring inscribed VICTORIA, with a crown above the medallion on the 12 o’clock arm, the reverse is plain, engraved K346, measures 51.45mm (w) x 54.85mm (h – inclusive of rings), weighs 44.2 grams (including ribbon), worn on a full length neck ribbon, enamels intact, in extremely fine condition. The star of the order, in silver, featuring a Maltese cross with faceted rays, and smaller faceted rays in each quadrant, the medallion with the cypher VRI on red enamel, surrounded by a blue enamel ring inscribed VICTORIA, with a crown above the medallion on the 12 o’clock arm, the reverse offers a Gold vertical pin, center engraved 346, measures 73.81mm (w) x 72.43mm (h), weighs 62.5 grams, enamels intact, lovely patina, in extremely fine condition.
Contained in its original case of issue, black leatherette exterior marked K.C.V.O, the interior with a crème-coloured silk interior marked COLLINGWOOD & Co. LONDON, with a green velvet recessed medal bed, compartment below for neck ribbon, with card of statutes of wear, measures 112mm (w) x 125mm (l) x 30mm (d), residue and wear to exterior, Kanji written in pink ink on interior lid, silk split over the hinge, hinge and catch functional, in very fine condition.
