Germany, Heer. A Panzer EM/NCO’s M43 Field Cap

(Heer Einheitsfeldmütze M43 für Männer der Panzertruppe). An extremely well-preserved Heer Panzer EM/NCO’s M43 field cap, constructed of black wool. The cap is fully surrounded by fold-down side panels, scalloped at the front, providing optional ear and neck protection to the wearer. When not in use, the panels are rolled up and secured in place at the front with two pebbled and black-painted magnetic metal buttons which emanate from the right flap and meet an equal number of reinforced buttonholes at the front. The peak demonstrates the unmistakable outlines of a Wehrmacht eagle insignia and cockade which have been carefully removed with no consequent disruption of the underlying wool. Completing the exterior features is a protruding card stock-reinforced visor, fully lined in identical wool. The interior is encompassed by a multi-piece silver-grey rayon liner, which is unmarked with the exception of a size of “56” stamped onto the crown in black ink. It measures approximately 21 cm (w) x 25 cm (l) x 14 cm (h).
