Germany. A Roman Catholic Hierarch's Pectoral Cross

Multi-piece construction, in silvered bronze, with inlaid ebony strips placed in the centre of the horizontal and vertical arms of the cross on both sides, obverse illustrating Christ on the Cross, with a Radiant Cross placed behind his head and the Skull of Adam placed below him, reverse illustrating the Sacred Heart of Jesus within a Crown of Thorns at the junction of the arms of the cross, country of manufacture marked "GERMANY" at the base and marked "REAL EBONY" on the vertical ebony portion of the cross, the various pieces secured in place via five pins, the cross designed with a protruding bar at the top with a ring suspension, measuring 105 mm (w) x 225 mm (h) x 22 mm (d), edge nicks evident on the reverse, contact marks and surface wear overall, better than very fine.
