Germany, Kriegsmarine. A High Sea Fleet Badge, by Schwerin & Sohn

(Flottenkriegsabzeichen). Constructed of gilded and silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Kriegsmarine eagle clutching a mobile swastika, around a frontal depiction of a battleship cutting through waves, the reverse with a barrel hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a rounded catch, designer marked “ADOLF BOCK” and maker marked “SCHWERIN, BERLIN”, measuring 44.02 mm (w) x 57.10 mm (h), weighing 28.9 grams, most of the original finish has been lost, there is evidence of refinishing to the reverse, and the catch has been replaced, in fair condition.
