Russia, Imperial. An 1882 Medal for the 50th Anniversary of the Nikolaev Academy of the General Staff, by V. Nikonov and L. Steinman

Constructed of bronze, the obverse bearing raised and overlapping profiles of Tsars Nicholas I, Alexander II, and Alexander III, circumscribed by dates of “26 NOVEMBER 1832-1882”, the reverse bearing a raised and exceptionally detailed depiction of Minerva crowning a warrior in medieval armour, circumscribed by a Russian Cyrillic dedication to the 50th Anniversary of the Nikolaev Academy of the General Staff, engraver and medallist marked for V. Nikonov and L. Steinman, measuring 51 mm in diameter, with minor spots of oxidation evident, in near extremely fine condition.
