Russia, Imperial. A 1741 Table Medal the General Pardon of Prisoners on the Accession of Empress Elizabeth, by Timofei Ivanov

Constructed of silvered zink, the obverse bearing a raised and rightward-facing bust of Empress Elizabeth, circumscribed by name and title in Latin, the reverse bearing a central raised depiction of female figure representing the personification of mercy, loosening the chains of a group of prisoners, situated in front of a prison with open doors through which prisoners are exiting, below a Latin inscription of “CLEMENTIA AUGUSTÆ” indicating an imperial clemency, above an inscription which has been rendered illegible, the obverse maker marked “ ТИМОФЕИ ИВАНОВЪ” for medallist Timofei Ivanov of the St. Petersburg Mint, measuring 64 mm in diameter, in near extremely fine condition.
