(HJ Fahrtenmesser). An extremely well-preserved HJ member’s knife, measuring 26 cm in total length when inserted into the scabbard. It features a 14 cm-long nickel-plated magnetic steel blade with a sharpened tip and lower edge. The reverse ricasso is marked with a Reichszeugmeisterei (RZM) logo and maker’s code of “M7/51” for Anton Wingen Jr., of Solingen, in turn flanked by a manufacture date of “39”. It sits securely within a one-piece, nickel-plated, magnetic metal hilt with a hooked quillon and pommel. The handle grip is composed of two pieces of pebbled black bakelite, secured together with two non-magnetic metal rivets. Inset into the obverse of the pommel is an enameled HJ insignia measuring 15 mm (w) x 25 mm (h). It is accompanied by its period original scabbard, constructed of a black painted magnetic metal shaft. Riveted to the reverse is a black leather strap with a functional snap button for uniform suspension. With only minor scratching and material fatigue visible to the scabbard shaft and hanger, respectively, the knife remains in a near mint condition.
