(Ordine die San Silvestro e dello Speron d'Oro). Instituted in 1841. Multi-piece construction, in silver gilt with white and blue enamels, coppered background around the saint's head where the blue enamels once resided on the obverse centrepiece, measuring 56.2 mm (w) x 58.5 mm (h) inclusive of its integral ring, the left point of the arm at 6 o'clock bent back slightly from contact thereby causing chipping and crazing in the white enamels on both sides, the blue enamels missing on the aforementioned obverse centrepiece, on a full-length replacement neck ribbon, fine.

 

Footnote: The Order of St. Sylvester and of the Golden Spur was instituted on October 31, 1841 by Pope Gregory XVI and awarded for civil and military services, in four grades: Grand Cross, Commander with Star, Commander and Knight.
