Germany, Imperial. A Pilot’s Badge, Owner-Attributed

(Flugzeugführerabzeichen). Constructed of silvered tombak, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a German State Crown, around a central depiction of a monoplane flying over a rural landscape, the reverse with a raised barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, bearing an engraved owner’s name of “WILLI REIBER, 14. 2. 17”, measuring 45.16 mm (w) x 70.24 mm (h), weighing 30.0 grams, in extremely fine condition.
