Germany, Wehrmacht. A Panzer Assault Badge, Silver Grade, by Karl Wurster

(Panzerkampfabzeichen in Silber). Constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, around a central Panzer IV rolling over grassy terrain, with its left tread extending beyond the edge of the wreath, the reverse with a narrow barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, the upper left bearing a faintly-visible maker’s mark of “W” indicating manufacture by Karl Wurster, Markneukirchen, measuring 41.34 mm (w) x 60.06 mm (h), weighing 31.5 grams, with minor loss of finish and oxidation evident, in near extremely fine condition.
