Germany, Luftwaffe. An Air Gunner and Flight Engineer Badge, by Wilhelm Deumer

(Fliegerschützenabzeichen für Bordmechaniker). Constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by a mobile swastika, overlaid by a Luftwaffe eagle in mid-flight, the reverse with two visible rivets securing the obverse eagle in place, with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked “W. DEUMER, LÜDENSCHEID”, measuring 44.20 mm (w) x 53.58 mm (h), weighing 25.3 grams, demonstrating loss of silver finish throughout, in very fine condition.
