Constructed of gilded and silvered tombak, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, around a central depiction of a coastal artillery gun wits barrel raised and extending beyond the edge of the wreath, the reverse with a block hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a round wire catch, designer marked “OTTO PLACZEK, BERLIN” and maker marked “C.E. JUNCKER, BERLIN”, measuring 41.65 mm (w) x 53.56 mm (h), weighing 26.9 grams, demonstrating minor loss of finish, in near extremely fine condition.
