Germany, Kriegsmarine. A Blockade Runner Badge, by Schwerin

(Abzeichen für Blockadebrecher). Constructed of silvered and patinated tombak, the obverse consisting of a circular chain link wreath, cut through by a central blockade runner with its bow overlaid by a German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, the reverse with a block hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a round wire catch, designer marked “OTTO PLACZEK, BERLIN” and maker marked “SCHWERIN, BERLIN”, measuring 48.64 mm in diameter, weighing 35.7 grams, demonstrating moderate loss of finish, in very fine condition.
