Constructed of bronze, the obverse bearing a raised depiction of Imperial Russian infantry, cavalry, and artillery, circumscribed by a Cyrillic dedication to glories of the Battle of Poltava with dates “1709-1959”, the reverse bearing a similar raised scene featuring Russian Army personnel with a central standard bearer situated atop a pedestal, surrounded by Russian Cyrillic inscriptions praising the courage of Russia’s soldiers and hailing the battle as a victory for the people, unmarked, measuring 65 mm in diameter, accompanied by its period original presentation case, of two-piece card stock construction, retaining a white cotton medal bed, unmarked, measuring 75 mm in diameter, in extremely fine condition.
