Russia, Imperial. A Orphanage Medal, c.1763

Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse with a raised rightward-facing profile of Catherine the Great, circumscribed by name and title in Russian Cyrillic, the reverse with a detailed depiction of a saint clutching a cross beside a kneeling female figure, topped by a Russian Cyrillic inscription of “И ВЫ ЖИВИ БУДЕТЕ” (“AND YOU SHALL LIVE”), with a date of “1763”, the obverse marked with initials “Т.Н.Р.” doe an unidentified maker, measuring 29.45 mm in diameter, weighing 16.1 grams (inclusive of ribbon), age-appropriate material fatigue evident, in overall better than very fine condition.
