(Gendarmerie Einheitsfeldmütze für Mannschaften). A very well-preserved Gendarmerie EM/NCO’s field cap, constructed of police-green wool. The cap is fully surrounded by fold-down side panels, scalloped at the front, providing optional ear and neck protection to the wearer. When not in use, the panels are rolled up and secured in place at the front with a single pebbled magnetic metal button which emanates from the right flap and meets a reinforced buttonhole on the left flap. The crown is fully trimmed along the outer edge with a band of orange wool piping. Stitched onto the peak is an insignia consisting of a field-grey rayon hexagon bearing a machine-embroidered silver-grey Ordnungspolizei insignia in the form of an oval oak leaf wreath overlaid by a German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika. The insignia is in turn topped by a machine-embroidered tri-colour cockade. The insignia measures 42 mm (w) x 52 mm (h). Completing the exterior features is a protruding card stock-reinforced visor, fully lined in identical wool. A partial dark grey sweatband extends across the interior of the forehead, while the interior is also encompassed by a multi-piece light grey rayon liner. It is unmarked with the exception of a black ink size mark of “56” stamped onto the crown. The cap measures approximately 20 cm (w) x 24.5 cm (l) x 14.5 cm (h). Minor soiling and material fatigue consistent with field use is evident to the interior, but the cap remains in an overall extremely fine condition.
