(Landzollbeamte Dienstrock für Zollassistant). A well-preserved service tunicLandzollbeamte (Land Customs) Zollassistant service tunic, constructed of field-grey wool. It features a turned-down collar, fully lined on the obverse with smooth dark green wool. The collar is flanked by tabs constructed of dark green wool with buckram cores, trimmed with machine-embroidered silver-grey scalloped borders, bearing a floral wreath of identical construction and pinned with a single silvered rank pip. Each tab measures 45 mm (w) x 70 mm (l). The shoulders are flanked by boards constructed of green wool with card stock cores, topped by two bands of dark green threaded piping interspersed with silver aluminum wire chevrons surrounding two bands of silver aluminum wire piping, and pinned with a gilded rank pip and Reichsfinanzverwaltung cypher. Each measuring 32 mm (w) x 100 mm (l), the boards are secured in place with an integral loop emanating from the tunic at the outer edge, and with a pebbled zink button on the inner edge. Vertical slits are set into the cuff of each sleeve, both closing with two black bakelite buttons for an adjustable fit. Stitched onto the left cuff is a title constructed of green cotton/rayon-blended base, trimmed along both edges with machine-embroidered silver aluminum wire tresses, and bearing a government-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika of identical construction. The cuff title measures 28 mm in width. The breast flaps have four non-pleated pockets, all closing with scalloped horizontal flaps with reinforced buttonholes meeting pebbled zink buttons. Stitched onto the upper left breast flap just beneath the corresponding pocket is an insignia consisting of a field-grey wool backer bearing machine-embroidered silver-grey Sig runes, indicating that the owner was in SS service. Two additional threaded loops set into the same pocket accommodate a decoration with a vertical pinback. The interior features a partial slate-grey rayon liner set into the shoulders and breast flaps, also forming pockets at the upper left and lower right breast flaps. Unmarked, the tunic measures approximately 43 cm across the shoulders, with an arm length of 54 cm, and an overall body length of 70 cm. Demonstrating only minor soiling and material fatigue, the tunic remains in a near extremely fine condition.
