Germany, Heer. A Commemorative Service Stein to Unteroffizier Clemens

(Heer Erinnerungs-Krug). Constructed of glazed off-white earthenware, the exterior bearing a hand-painted green depiction of a company of Heer riflemen and a mortar company in the field, set within a rectangular oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by a banner bearing an inscription of “ERINNERUNG AN MEINE DIENSTZEIT” (“MEMENTO OF MY SERVICE TIME”), featuring a protruding and rounded handle flanked by an etched measurement of “0,5L” for one half litre, the handle retaining a two-piece pewter and silvered bronze lid on a functional hinge with a thumb catch, the lid bearing an engraved owner’s name of “UNTEROFF. (UNTEROFFIZIER) CLEMENS”, otherwise unmarked, measuring 100 mm (w) (exclusive of handle) x 130 mm (exclusive of thumb grip). Demonstrating no visible chips or cracks, it is in an extremely fine condition.
