Constructed of blackened bronze, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, around a central raised Stahlhelm overlaid by a mobile swastika, on top of crossed swords on a pebbled field, the reverse with a clip hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked with Präsidialkanzlei code “30” for the Vienna Mint, measuring 36.74 mm (w) x 44.00 mm (h), weighing 7.0 grams, accompanied by its period original package of issue, constructed of beige paper stock, the exterior bearing an inscription of “VERWUNDETEN-ABZEICHEN SCHWARZ” and a maker’s mark of “HAUPTMÜNZAMT WIEN”, measuring 58 mm (w) x 105 mm (h) and retaining an original wax paper liner, an example in mint condition that is impossible to upgrade.
