(Medalha de Valor Militar). Instituted in 1863. In bronze gilt, engraver marked on the obverse, measuring 33.3 mm (w) x 38.5 mm (h) inclusive of its laterally-pierced ball suspension, very light contact, traditional horizontal clasp bearing a "C" affixed to its original ribbon, near extremely fine.

 

Footnote: The Military Medal was instituted on October 2, 1863 and was issued in three divisions: for Military Valour, for Distinguished Service and for Exemplary Conduct, each of which comes in three grades: I Class Gold Grade, II Class Silver Grade and III Class Bronze Grade.
