(Luftwaffe Schiffchen für General). A rare and extremely well-preserved Luftwaffe General’s overseas cap, constructed of dark blue-grey whipcord wool. The cap is fully surrounded by fold-down side walls which gently slope toward the front. The edge of the walls is fully trimmed with gold bullion wire piping. Stitched onto the peak of the cap is an insignia consisting of a dark blue-grey wool backer bearing hand-embroidered gold bullion wire Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, measuring 68 mm (w) x 42 mm (h). Directly below the eagle the cap also retains a multi-coloured aluminum wire cockade with a red wool centrepiece, measuring 35 mm in diameter. A brown leather sweatband is set across the interior of the forehead, bearing an embossed “QUALITÄTS MARKE” logo. An unmarked multi-piece black rayon liner fully encompasses the interior. It measures approximately 28.5 cm (l) x 11 cm (h) when folded on a flat surface. Demonstrating only minor material fatigue to the edge wool, the scarce General’s cap remains in an extremely fine condition.
