(Wehrmacht Fotoalbum). An interesting private wartime photo album, constructed of a card stock binding with a faux textured leather exterior liner. The spine is perforated with four eyelets reinforced with magnetic metal grommets through which is looped a drawstring that maintains the album’s structural integrity. The cover bears a silvered Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika in the upper left corner, while the lower right corner bears a silvered inscription of “MEINE DIENSTZEIT” (“MY SERVICE TIME”). The interior content consists of 17 black card stock pages retaining 108 black-and-white photos, supplemented by a number of postcards. Approximately two-thirds of the former feature military scenes, with images of the presumed owner in a Heer uniform (with later images showing a 1939 Iron Cross II Class ribbon and Infantry Assault Badge in wear) in the field, at leisure (including on leave at home), and on duty. The remaining images consist of family photos, several of which show the family dog, as well as a sheep. The interior of the back cover retains a vendor’s label reading “WILLY HAUSTEIN, CAINSDORF-PLANITZ”. Measuring 27 cm (w) x 19 cm (h), the album demonstrates no notable damage and is in an extremely fine condition.
