We, reposing especial Trust and Confidence in your Loyalty, Courage and good Conduct, do by these Presents Constitute and Appoint you to be an Officer in Our Active Air Force of our Royal Canadian Air Force of Our Dominion of Canada from the Tenth day of March 1944. McLaine / 3621 Newark St. N.W., / Washington 16, D.C., USA.", inscribed "Dear Mrs. McLaine, / I have the honour to forward, herewith, the Royal Canadian Air Force Officer's Commission Script for your husband, Pilot Officer Peter E. McLaine. / This Script, which is being forwarded to you for safekeeping, represents the authority vested in Pilot Officer McLaine, as well as the trust placed in him by His Majesty, The King. / Would you be good enough to sign and return the enclosed receipt as evidence that the Script has been received by you in good order. / Yours very truly," signed in black ink by "I. N.W., / WASHINGTON 16, D.C., / USA.", with a postage meter label dated August 9. 1944 at Ottawa, date stamped August 11 and August 12, 1944 at Washington, measuring 370 mm in length x 52 mm in diameter.

Royal Canadian Air Force "Flying Log Book for Aircrew other than Pilot": named in handwritten black ink to "McLAINE, P.E." on the cover and on the side of the pages, entries dated from October 20, 1943 to June 1, 1945, with notations throughout in black and red inks, measuring 130 mm (w) x 200 mm (h) x 13.5 mm (d).
8. Royal Air Force "Sight Log Book": named in handwritten black ink to "P/O McLAINE/ P.E. J42772 R.C.A.F." on the cover, entries dated from January 3, 1944 to May 19, 1945", with notations throughout in black and blue inks, measuring 200 mm (w) x 165 mm (h) x 14 mm (d).
9. "Flying Log 1943-45": with multiple handwritten entries in blue and black inks, with text and photos printed in black ink, measuring 82 mm (w) x 135 mm (h).

12. Book entitled "A History of 431 Iroquois Squadron by Hugh J. McNenly": hardcover, air force blue cloth exterior, signed in black ink on the title page by the author "February 15, 1993 / H.J. McNenly Ph.D.", with text and multiple black and white photographs, containing 80 pages, printed in black ink, on a white paper stock, measuring 260 mm (w) x 210 mm (h) x 13 mm (d).

15. British Empire Service League Canadian Legion Lapel Badge: in bronze with red and blue enamels, maker marked "W. SCULLY" on the reverse, measuring 11.3 mm (w) x 15.3 mm (h), screwback.
16. Airplane Tie Clip: in bronze gilt, measuring 61.2 mm (w) x 23.5 mm (h), with a large clip on the reverse.
17. RAF Flying Helmet: in dark brown leather, lined in supple sheepskin, internally wired C type with wiring loom and earphones already factory installed, each of the earphones Air Ministry stamped and coded "10A/13466", with snaps and multiple straps affixed to the exterior, measuring 190 mm (w) x 210 mm (h) when lying flat, accompanied by its independent electronic cord with prong plug.
18. RCAF Side Cap: in blueish-gray wool, designed with fold down flaps, bronze gilt eagle and crown affixed to the left side, two brass buttons at the front, inside lined in gray rayon, with a large Burberrys manufacturer's label above a white cotton patch with the handwritten name "J42772 McLAINE P.E." and a "7 1/4" size label on the right side, measuring 300 mm (w) x 112 mm (h).
19. RCAF Navigator Wing: in red, brown and white embroidery, on a black wool base, sewn upon a dark blue uniform swatch, measuring 120 mm (w) x 105 mm (h).
20. RCAF Patch: in Air Force blue cotton, marked "R253833" which is stroked out, replaced with "J42772 / McLAINE P.E." in black ink, measuring 140 mm (w) x 100 mm (h).
21. RCAF Cap Badge: in brass, measuring 38.5 mm (w) x 45 mm (h), both lugs bent back but intact.
22. Nine RCAF Buttons: eight large and one small, in brass, four of the large buttons are tied to a strip of leather, the buttons in various widths.
23. Pocket Watch: non-functioning, ornate casing, maker marked "WALTHAM" on the face, name engraved "PEMcL" (Peter Elliott McLaine) on the reverse, measuring 44.2 mm (w) x 55 mm (h) inclusive of its loop suspension.
24. "Douglas" Combined Protractor and Parallel Rule: with black rules on plastic, transparent, measuring 122 mm (w) x 122 mm (h).
25. Communications Case: hardshelled, two pieces that include a lid and base, with brown cloth exterior, the lid incorporating a thick leather handle, secured in place by metal brackets joined to leather tabs that are stitched in place to the body on top, with two tabs stitched in place at the ends along the top edge on both sides, the case measuring 295 mm (w) x 180 mm (h) x 150 (d), exhibiting soiling on the exterior and the interior.
