Germany, Heer. A Armoured EM/NCO’s M35 Overseas Cap, by LAGO

(Heer Schiffchen M35 für Männer der Panzertruppe). An extremely well-preserved Heer ArmouredEM/NCO’s M35 field cap, constructed of field-grey wool. The cap is fully surrounded by fold-down side walls which are scalloped toward the front. The crown is flanked on each side by a single ventilation hole reinforced with a grey-painted magnetic metal grommet. Stitched onto the peak of the cap is an insignia consisting of a field-grey rayon backer bearing a machine-embroidered silver-grey Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, measuring 70 mm (w) x 28 mm (h) overall. Directly below the eagle, the front also features a field-grey rayon diamond bearing a machine-embroidered tri-colour cockade, measuring 32 mm (w) x 32 mm (h). The cockade is surrounded by a classic rose-pink soutache. A multi-piece field-grey cotton liner encompasses the interior, and is stamped on the crown with a maker’s mark of “MÜTZEN LAGO WIEN 15” for Landes-Lieferungs-Genossenschaft of Vienna, with a manufacture date of “1940” and a size mark of “55 ½”. It measures approximately 29 cm (l) x 12 cm (h) when folded on a flat surface. Demonstrating no notable damage or wear, the cap remains in an extremely fine condition.
