Germany, Imperial. A Pair of First World War Patriotic Brooches

(Patriotische Broschen). A pair of First World War patriotic brooches, including:

1. One constructed of silvered bronze with multi-coloured enamels, vertical pinback, the obverse consisting of a white enameled oval disc bearing the flags of Germany and Austria, overlaid by a laurel wreath, and circumscribed by an inscription of “GOTT STRAFE ENGLAND 1914-1915” (“GOD PUNISH ENGLAND 1914-1915”), unmarked, measuring 30 mm (w) x 42 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.

2. One constructed of gilded and silvered bronze with multi-coloured enamels, horizontal pinback, the obverse bearing a central silvered disc featuring a rightward-facing profile of Kaiser Wilhelm II, topped by a crown, flanked by German and Austrian flags, and situated within a laurel wreath, unmarked, measuring 35 mm (w) x 32 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
