Mecklenburg-Schwerin. An Order of the Griffin, Miniature, c. 1914

Instituted September 15, 1884 by Grand Duke Friedrich Franz IV. In silver gilt, a red enamelled Maltese Cross, the obverse center medallion presents an embossed rearing griffin, reverse is plain, measures 17.22mm (w) x 17.83mm (h), weighs 1.8 grams, heavy enamel damage to the 9 o’clock arm, light contact, better than fine condition.
