(Nishan al-Nil); Badge: silver gilt with white and blue enamelled insignia, mounted to a ten-pointed silver gilt star base, maker marked "LATTES" (J. Lattes of Cairo) on the reverse, 63 mm (w) x 94 mm (h) inclusive of its crown suspension, on its original full-length sash; and Breast Star: silver gilt with white and blue enamelled insignia, mounted to a ten-pointed silver gilt star base, maker marked "LATTES" (J. Lattes of Cairo) on the reverse, 93.8 mm (w) x 93.5 mm (h), vertical pinback flanked by dual prongs. Intact enamels, extremely fine.

Footnote: The Order of the Nile was instituted in 1915 by Sultan Hussein Kamel, to reward persons, military or civilian, who had rendered useful service to Egypt. It was reconstituted under the Arab Republic of Egypt on June 18, 1953, but without the crown. In the Kingdom of Egypt, the Order of the Nile ranked beneath the Order of Ismail.
