In silver gilt, a grand cross decoration featuring a white enamelled five point star with ball finials, a wreath in each quadrant, the obverse features a right facing female bust with a surrounding inscription of REPUBLICA DE CHILE, the reverse medallion presenting a sprig with the inscription AL MERITO, the badge is surmounted by a uniface open winged Andean Condor, measures 46.85mm (w) x 66.70mm (h – inclusive if condor suspension), weighs 37.1 grams, worn on a full length blue and red silk sash showing light wear and creasing, enamel chip in the obverse 12 o’clock arm, minor gilt wear, remains in very fine condition.
