Item #G54449

$2,700
(Luftwaffe Fliegermütze für General). A rare and exceptionally well-preserved Luftwaffe General’s overseas cap, constructed of fine dark grey wool. The cap is fully surrounded by fold-down side walls which gently slope downward toward the front, with the edge trimmed in bright golden-yellow rayon piping. Stitched onto the peak is an insignia consisting of a dark grey wool bearing a hand-embroidered gold bullion wire Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, measuring 58 mm (w) x 35 mm (h). Directly below the eagle, the cap also features a cockade executed in silver, blue, and gold bullion wire with a red wool centrepiece, measuring 20 mm in diameter. A grey leather sweatband extends across the forehead and bears a central embossed mark of “QUALITÄTS MARKE” (“QUALITY MARK”). The interior is fully encompassed by a multi-piece black rayon liner, stamped on the crown with a size mark of “57”. The cap measures approximately 28 cm (l) x 11.5 cm (h) when folded on a flat surface. Demonstrating no evident damage or wear, this superb example remains in a near mint condition.
