In silver, a lovely eight-armed star with clusters of smooth rays, silver gilt swords pierce the medallion, presenting a red enamelled "SS" on white enamel (Saint Stanislaus), with silver gilt motto of the order in PRAEMIANDO INCITAT (Rewarding Encourages) on white enamels, outer surround composed of silver gilt laurels on a green enamel background, reverse with principle pin assembly, marked on the reverse with Cyrillic maker mark “BA” and “ЗДУАРАЪ” denoting Eduard-VD (Varvara Dietwald) of St. Petersburg, and a silver kokoshnik mark denoting silver fineness and St. Petersburg assay mark, marked with a kokoshnik on the reverse of the pin and the reverse of the tip of the 3 and 9 o’clock rays, measures 91.4mm (w) x 89.9mm (h), weighs 79.4 grams, minor loss of red enamel to the SS in the medallion, lovely patina, in extremely fine condition.
