Turkey, Ottoman Empire. A War Medal of 1915 by B.B. & Co, with Rare Case

(Harp Madalyasi). Instituted in 1915. An extremely fine War Medal, also known as a Gallipoli star, in silver and red enamels, with ball finials on the tip of each ray, the reverse presents a horizontal pin marked B.B.& Co (Berlin), measures 57.3mm (w) x 55.8mm (h), weighs 29.1 grams, lovely patina and intact enamels, in extremely fine condition.

Contained in its original case of issue, red leatherette exterior with raise section on lid presenting the Tughra, the interior with a crème coloured silk lid with gold embossed images, the base is an inset brown velvet with recessed section for star, the case measures 86mm (w) x 78mm (h) x 30mm (d), wear to edges and contact marks to raised exterior section, exterior clasp and hinge functional, case in very fine condition.
