Bulgaria, Kingdom. An Order of Military Merit, Grand Cross Star, by Johann Schwerdtner, c.1940

(Орден за Военна Заслуга). Instituted on 18 May of 1900. Civil Division. A silver and gilded-silver eight-pointed star with three-part rays, with an Urdy cross constructed of gilded bronze, with arms constructed of red enamel, with two swords crossed between the body of the cross, the obverse centre presents the monogram of the founder Ferdinand, surrounded by a ring of green enamel with the inscription ЗА ВОЕННА ЗАСЛУГА (For Military Merit), reverse presents a vertical pinback, maker marked JOHANN SCHWERDTNER WIEN, measuring 98.45mm (w) x 96.75mm (h), weighs 111.9 grams, enamels intact, pin and catch functional, remains in extremely fine condition.
