Romania, Republic. An Order of the Star of the People’s Republic, I Class with Case, c.1950

(Ordinul Steaua Republicii Populare Române). Instituted January 1948. Type I. In silver gilt, a five point red enamel star with a blue enamel border, superimposed on a five point star consisting of clusters of five smooth rays, the obverse center presenting the inscription ”30 DECEMBRIE 1947” surrounded in a silver gilt wreath, the reverse bears a single pin and brooch style catch suspension with a single rivet, measures 51.90mm (w) x 51.51mm (h), weighs 37.9 grams, enamels intact, nice patina, better than very fine condition.

Accompanied by a small ribbon of red thread and wire in a plastic casing, pin on reverse, measures 24.50mm (w) x 9.75mm (h), and its original hardshell case of issue featuring a reptile skin-design material, top stamped “Ordinul STEAUA REPBLICII PROPULARE ROMINE CL. I”, crème coloured velvet interior, fitted medalbed including ribbon bar indent, metal pinch catch for the decorations’ pin, measures 86.26mm (w) x 104.96mm (h) x 31.82mm (d), hinge and clasp in working order, very fine condition.
