Germany, SS. A Waffen-SS Panzer EM/NCO’s M40 Overseas Cap

(Waffen-SS Schiffchen M40 für Mannschaften der Panzertruppe). A well-preserved Waffen-SS Panzer EM/NCO’s M40 overseas cap, constructed of black wool. The cap is fully surrounded by fold-down side walls which gently slope toward the front. The peak bears the unmistakable outline of an SS-style German national eagle insignia which has been carefully removed from the cap, with no consequent disturbance of the base material. Visible directly below is the outline of an SS-style Totenkopf insignia which has similarly been removed, leaving minor stitch marks throughout the wool. The interior is fully encompassed by a multi-piece black cotton-blended liner, marked on the crown with a white ink size stamp of “57”. It measures approximately 29 cm (l) x 13 cm (h) when folded on a flat surface. Demonstrating no notable damage or wear beyond the missing insignia, the cap remains in an overall near extremely fine condition.
